Finally, spring is nearly here and May is going to be an important month for me. Even though I started blogging in April, as I transferred my blog from Wix.com to WordPress in May, I consider this to be my starting point. For the past week, I have been learning a lot. And I mean A LOT. So, even though there are still some things that I have to figure out I wanted to write about my May blogging goals just to put them on paper. I have read that for blogging beginners it is really useful to set some goals to keep you motivated. This way you can focus on specific things and not become overwhelmed by the amount of information you can find online.
Therefore, I have created a list of my May blogging goals:
- Grow on social media: I really love twitter. I am not ashamed to say that it is one of my obsessions and it has increased since I started this blog. It is not just a great platform to share your content but also to discover so many incredible bloggers and get inspiration for future posts. My twitter account is still pretty small (about 100 followers) but it has grown really quickly if you think that a week ago I just had around 14 of them. My idea is also to interact with bloggers in other social media. I have recently created an Instagram account and a Pinterest one which I want to promote and start using as much as Twitter. My May goal is to reach 200 followers during this first month on Twitter, 100 followers on Instagram (right now I am on 29) and learn how to configure my Pinterest to lead traffic to my blog
- Post at least twice a week: I have always believed that content is key and that people will follow you and your blog if you post regularly. I won’t set a schedule to post (let’s be real, I am not going to follow it), but I really want to try to prepare posts ahead and write as much good and valuable content as I can. At the end of the month, I would like to have posted around 20 posts mostly about lifestyle or travel.
- Get 500 views on my first month blogging: Maybe for most of you that wouldn’t be a big accomplishment, but for me is something gigantic. Right now I am getting about 20 views per day, which is not much, but 500 viewers the first month is a realistic objective if you consider this daily traffic.
- Begin self-hosting my site: For someone who knows nothing about HTML or coding of any kind, worpress.com has been a great ally. It is so simple to edit themes, upload posts and just deal with everything, but it is also limiting. I would like to build a unique blog and in order to do so, I need to start self-hosting my site. I have no doubt that it is going to be complicated, as I have no idea about it, but one of my main blogging goals this month is to learn about coding and website building.
So, that’s it! My four May blogging goals! I hope I will be able to accomplish everything but I am actually just excited to give it a try.
